The information on the Glow Plug relay and Glow Plug Fuse locations as pertains to the 1998 Jetta TDI in our VG99 manual is not correct. But in our defense, the Volkswagen service information from which our manual is derived continues to agree with our manual. And as a final reference, I checked the Volkswagen factory parts information and it agrees with both of the above which is to say that it is incorrect also.

The Glow Plug relay (J52) is marked with the production number "180" and is in position #16 with the 50 Amp MAXI-fuse directly above it in position #22. The relay may be marked with part number 028 911 253 or the supersession 038 911 253. Use the information in our manual to gently lower the fuse/relay panel to gain access to the auxiliary positions.

Hope this helps clear up some of the confusion in this area.
