Moses Ludel

An avid fly fisherman, hunter, canoeist and four-wheeler, Moses Ludel took his first driver's license exam in the family CJ-5 Jeep. Two years later, at age eighteen, he drove the Rubicon Trail by the back route, entering from the Miller Lake access and tracking the largely unmarked trail across the Sierra Mountains to Placerville, California.

Moses worked as a master truck mechanic and heavy equipment operator before earning a Bachelor of Science (Pre-Law/Sociology) degree with honors from the University of Oregon. He has taught Adult Education level courses in Automotive and Diesel Mechanics and served as the Director of Vocational Training for the Rite Of Passage program from 1999-2004. Moses Ludel has been a widely published automotive journalist and photographer since 1983 with an emphasis on four-wheel drive vehicles, motorsports and a healthy outdoor lifestyle.

Since 2010, Moses Ludel's online work has included videography and post production HD video editing. His popular 4WD Mechanix Magazine reaches a broad audience. The magazine website and 4WD Mechanix 'Tech and Travel' Forums provide in-depth HD video how-to, vlogs and editorial features with additional video outlets at YouTube and Vimeo. Moses has filmed, narrated and produced new product and training videos for B.F. Goodrich, Cooper Tires, SUR&R, Sea Foam®, Advance Adapters, HTP America, Weld Mold Company, Gaither Tool Company, Shurhold, Bosch/OTC, Capstone Turbine Corporation and many other companies.

Moses Ludel's published work now exceeds 3,600 technical features, stories and columns plus five Owner's Bible? series books and two Jeep® CJ Rebuilder's Manuals for Bentley Publishers. His magazine credits include Off-Road, Four-Wheeler, 4WD SUV, 4x4 Magazine Japan, Trailer Life, Motorhome, Popular Hot Rodding, Chevy Truck, Jp Magazine, Turbo Diesel Register and many others. Moses served as tech editor and columnist for the original Jp Magazine. From 1994-97, he wrote the "Drivetime" column for Portland's Oregonian newspaper.

A past board member and 4WD trainer for the national 'TREAD LIGHTLY!' organization, Moses Ludel has consulted to 4WD truck/SUV manufacturers including General Motors, Toyota, Subaru, Jeep® Corporation, Mopar? and Mercedes-Benz. Moses remains active in the four-wheel drive community and is a supporting member of the Nevada Four-Wheel Drive Association (N4WDA) and SEMA.
